Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies are searching the Angeles National Forest for a Bakersfield resident who’s been missing more than a week.
According to a release from the sheriff’s department, Ertug Ergun, 33, an engineer from Turkey who currently resides in the Bakersfield area, was reported missing June 20. On Friday, June 22, deputies from Crescenta Valley station and Forest Service personnel found Ergun’s vehicle in the Stonyvale Picnic area parking lot in the Angeles National Forest.
The Montrose Search and Rescue Team searched the area Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the search included personnel from the Montrose, Santa Clarita, Antelope Valley and Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team, including helicopters, search dogs, and mounted posse. The press release said that, in addition to fulltime sheriff’s department personnel, reserves and volunteers have spent more than 600 hours searching for Ergun.
According to the release, Ergun is an avid hiker, and is described as 6 ft. 2 in., 135 lbs., brown hair, with eyeglasses.
