1. The calm before the storm: the library’s Community Room awaits buyers before the sale begins. 2. Earlybird buyers wait impatiently outside for the 3 PM opening. 3-4. And they’re off!  Buyers filled boxes, bags, backpacks, and their arms as fast as they could to get the low-hanging good stuff.

The bookhounds, that is, as the Altadena Library opened up its annual book sale to earlybird buyers Friday afternoon. Members of Friends of the Altadena Library could get into the sale early, and hard-core readers (and several used book dealers) ran inside when the doors opened to pick the sweetest fruit.  Have no fear, there are plenty of books left.  The sale continues Saturday from 10 AM-4 PM and Sunday from 1-4 PM.
