Fortunately, elves are not like witches and don’t melt when you pour water on them — which was a good thing for the Pasadena Waldorf School’s annual Elves’ Faire, held Saturday despite being bookended by rain showers. The booths, games, handcrafted items, music, and food went on for the appreciative crowds for the 27th year. Here, Waldorf dad Julian Koziak risks rust in his full suit of armor.

1. The Altadena Farmers Market had a booth, with “Assistant Secretary of Urban Farming” Elizabeth Bowman and market manager Joseph Shuldiner. Jake in the foreground is enjoying an orange with a peppermint stick straw, an Elves Faire staple.
2. Many magical characters wandered the grounds of the Waldorf School.
3. There were several performing stages on the grounds — here, “John C. Reilly and Friends” played some of the classic old folk music.
4. Threat of rain didn’t keep people away from one of Altadena’s best annual events.
