Quitting smoking is quite easy,
as Mark Twain, once he quipped.
Done it hundreds of time himself,
said sadly—but with wit!
There’s something in the air today—
or maybe—– something’s not?
GREAT AMERICAN SMOKEOUT DAY,
so smokers—here’s a thought:
Your friends have quit, and there you are
out smoking in the rain!
It’s not your fault for nicotine
is messing with your brain!
You’ve tried the medicines and gums
you stuck on that skin patch.
Intentions doing well—but then
it’s still beyond your grasp!
So try this next– it’s worked for me,
for 5 months now, Life’s turned;
those chemicals found in that smoke?
It’s scary, what’s been burned!
RAT POISON—–oh wow—that’s icky,
and ARSENIC too—oh my!
Four thousand chemicals in smoke;
no wonder you can die!
BUTANE ignites the cigarette.
What else is in this weed?
Like MOTH BALLS, Naphthalene by name;
some horrors– you don’t need!
FORMALDEHYDE—–that’s a surprise,
embalm yourself alive!
BENZENE—-as in—-rubber cement;
to glue organs inside?
No wonder smoking revs one up,
with METHANOL surprise!
You’ve jet fuel running through your blood,
and wow, you’re still alive!
And CADMIUM–that’s power stuff,,
rechargeable battery!
You look so cool, so suave so….dead
and then how sad you’ll be!
These chemicals you get—and more
each time you light one up.
Cold turkey and that poison list,
it helped me nix that puff!
No matter what your choice today,
to smoke or not to smoke;
RAT POISON!—Yikes, that scared me off,
and where there’s Life there’s hope!
