“SI SE PUEDE”

Parade, Parade, Parade today!
Celebrate Latino!
And D.C has so many there,
so many that you all know.

Supreme Court  of our government,
Sonia Sotomayer!
A good place for Latina girls–
aim for high and higher!

Ken Salazar–INTERIOR__
guards land from sea to sea.
So keep those open spaces big
in legacy to be.

George Santayana, he’s the one
philosopher I pick.
For if we do forget the past,
we’ll be repeating it!

And music too, our lives are filled
with rhythms, so so right.
Ritchie Valens–Selena too–
Santana’s music might!

There’s Luis Walter Alvarez,
with science son, they think–
an asteroid hit the Yucatan!
And dinosaurs? Extinct!

Ellen Ochoa, she’s the first
Latina up in space.
Three patents to her name, you know;
in science made her place.

Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta,
for Civil  Rights they fought.
Non-violence was the means to change;
this message still is taught.

Chicano Roy–King of the Road–
motorcycle chopper.
And from his San Fernando home
made “ART of MOLDING” proper.

Oh yes, I know I left sports out,
like  baseball, but  you see,
without Latino players then,
this sport would cease to be!

For movie stars the list is long
and NASA people too.
Inventors , teachers, and artists ;
so which appeals to you?

No matter where you start in Life,
Latino’s course is strong.
For SI SE PUEDE is the muse
to last your whole life long!
