And since their  treasury was bust,
no money could be found,
So off three countries raced in force—-
 ” Prometheus Unbound!”

 Britain and Spain —negotiate,
and  then they sail away!
Napoleon will not give in,
so battle it will play!

Eight thousand troops the French then land—
Mexican troops are small!
But when the country was attacked,
small army would not fall!

Four thousand, five hundred in all,
At Puebla—French— they lost!
The first time then in fifty years,
French victory was tossed!

In 1862, the year,
on date the fifth of  May!
A clear big win for Mexico;
French army held no sway!

A year later, the French descend,
with 30,000 troops!
They beat the army Mexican,
but win turns into OOPS!

 For Maximilian overthrown!
Sad  France had lost its way!.
The French, they had too many wars,
just like we have today!

Oh spread too thin, the French troops were,
there is a lesson here.
That sovereignty can be a force
with unity so dear!

So celebrate, today’s the day,
the lesson learned in fact!
From  biggest army of that world?
Small army won attack!

For biggest armies in the world,
they do not always win.
Beware the snare of war drums loud,
War OUT,and don’t war IN!
