Ben Franklin, yes he had it right,
and that’s a certainty.
For death and taxes come to all,
this curse—Humanity!

And true I’ve read that IRS,
is way behind in work.
Computer plans don’t work for all,
for this annoying irk!

Then once this travesty begins,
the work begins to pall.
Receipts once filed  so carefully—-
and all begins to fall!

Papers do seem to disappear,
while sitting  in your hand.
And pencils break and temper flares
Welcome to—-YOU PAY Land!

Instructions read and understood,
until you  start the math.
Pythagoras ——would sadly fail–
cut short his life by half!

The time grows short when taxes due,
but  hurry makes mistakes.
A need for  many breaks to rest
and brain, it gets the shakes!

It does much good to rise and scream,
but warn the household.—please!
When bellows rise the cats run wild
and dogs fall to their knees.

A horror yes, but  realize,
so many share your fate!
Great empathy  is sent to all
for coming April date.

And April, as the poet said,
in T.S. Eliot fate.
This April is the cruelest month;
for that, there’s no debate!
