We were checking out the Town Council’s new web site and found out they’ve got a contest going on they didn’t tell us about: choosing a flag for Altadena.
Now, none of the choices are terribly inspiring — generally variations of a white field with the town seal in the middle and eight gold stars in some arrangement, like the example to your right. The one with the sage-colored field seems to be ahead right now.
You have until Nov. 18 to vote, but that got us to thinking: the town seal, while it’s been around since Hector was a pup, more or less, needs something, too. The deodar cedar and golden poppy are appropriate, we think, but maybe it needs something more up-to-date: purple sage for Zane Grey, perhaps. Or an image of the library. A naked Zorthian nymph. A large RV that somebody living in Pasadena stores on Altadena Drive and moves every three days to avoid a ticket. Maybe a food truck?
What do you think the Altadena flag and city seal should look like? Comment away!
UPDATE 8:45 AM: Apparently we found this out BEFORE the official announcement (we LOVE it when we do that!). The official press release from Town Council is after the jump.
