There was considerable discussion on one of the newsgroups Sunday when someone thought they spotted a large wolf-like dog on Loma Alta near Chaney Trail.  “Does anybody know if we have wolves in the ‘hood?” they asked.

We took the question to our actual Altadena resident Ph.D. canid expert, who responded thusly under her nom de chien:

No sir.  No wolves.  There have been no wolves in California since the 1800s.  Unless of course some yahoo purchased a “wolf-hybrid.”  Don’t get me started on that.
