Neighbors Empowering Youth, 2662 N. Fair Oaks Ave.,  has announced its roster of summer enrichment programs for grades 9-12 (ages 14-18), which will begin May 29.

 

“Inspiring Young People to Entrepreneurship”:  George Combs and Allison Gibson will teach a Multimedia and Graphic Design course at N.E.Y. to high school students. The objective of the course is to inspire young students to entrepreneurship, and provide them with the necessary skills to launch their own innovative graphic design and/or website design businesses.   

Duration: 147 Hours over 14 weeks

Tuesday – Thursday

May 29, 2012 – September 6, 2012, 3:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (3.5 hours)

NEY’s Computer Repair Workshop allows students to participate in an innovative hands-on learning environment that places emphasis on computer, work place related skills. Our program provides the training to build, refurbish and maintain computer networks, develop business plans, and market their newly developed skills.  This program is designed for Middle & High School students 13-18 yrs old.   

Duration: 14 weeks

Tuesday – Thursday

May 29, 2012 – September 6, 2012, 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. (3 hours)

FIRST Team 2404 Robotics:  High-school students get to: 

  • Design, build, and program robots.
  • Apply real-world math and science concepts.
  • Develop problem-solving, organizational, and team-building skills.

It’s as close to “real world” engineering as a student can get.

By engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership

Duration: 14 weeks
