This on the surface makes no sense – why would people park there? The LCF high school kids? The JPL staffers? Not understanding this at all, beyond the general repugnance of the idea. Besides, there are cougars in there.

“Force it through”? This whole thing sounds awful. Like Snow said, unless Frisbee Golf has become insanely popular, I really don’t understand the need for this. :(

I’m glad you’re posting this. Many of us are extremely concerned (I’m being polite) with this truly bizarre development.

We have heard from the Pasadena PIO that the parking lot is not on the table. One can find out about what is proposed here (do a bit of scrolling): www.cityofpasadena.net

It’s trail today, road tomorrow, and parking garage the day after. What is on the table TODAY is a 50-ft wide trail (and no, that is not a typo!) and the environmental analysis for the road which means that at 2 AM some morning the bulldozer will go thru Hahamongna like the chainsaw went thru the trees on Colorado. Check out pasadenainsight.wordpress.com for some good discussion of the issue.

Since this is an important topic, here are the actual quotes from the Hahamongna Annex environmental document. See if you think it sounds like a road is planned:

“For purposed of this evaluation, the JPL west parking lot access road would include widening the corridor to 50 ft…”
“the proposed HMP Addendum would maintain a 50-ft wide trail corridor in this area.”
The environmental document also refers to the corridor as an “extension of the main park access road.”
50-ft WIDE IS WIDER THAN FOOTHILL BLVD

I’m reading disagreeing documents from varying trusted sources. Right now I’d say if we care about Hahamongna Watershed Park then we’d better be vigilant.
