Nancy Stiles named exec director of Lake Avenue Community Foundation
Altadenan Nancy Stiles has been appointed as executive director of Pasadena’s Lake Avenue Community Foundation, effective Oct. 1, 2013.
Stiles is a graduate of UCSD and UCLA, a former middle-school math teacher and an adjunct math professor at Glendale and Pasadena community colleges. She has been associated with LACF since 2005 as a volunteer. In 2009 she was hired as a mentor coach and in 2011 became manager of the mentor program. She lives in Altadena with her husband, Adam, and their three children, and is a life-long member of Lake Avenue Church. She has been an active volunteer with the church’s children’s ministry for more than 15 years and in 2005 helped launch and lead the church’s Teen Mothers Of Pre Schoolers (MOPS) ministry. She has also been involved with Pasadena Unified School District as a parent and public school advocate.
As executive director, Stiles plans to further engage parents, build a college-bound culture among the young people LACF serves, and deepen partnerships with community organizations and churches that share its vision.
Current executive director, Valerie Coachman Moore, will return full-time to her organizational and community development consulting firm, Coachman Moore & Associates, and will support LACF in a coaching and advisory capacity. She said that she and other board members are excited that Nancy will assume leadership for the organization. “We feel she is exactly the right person to build on the momentum established over the past couple of years. LACF is now better positioned to grow and sustain its impact on the lives of local students and families.”
