The Arroyo Seco Foundation led a group to clean up Millard Canyon on Sun., Feb. 19. The group, consisting of Arroyo Seco activists, a Girl Scout troop, and Pasadena City College students, found an incredible amount of trash and metal debris in the canyon bottom (car parts and a metal bedframe, for starters!). Pictures and the full story are at the Foundation website.
A couple of recent Larry Wilson columns at PSN worth noting; his Feb. 16 column on the Charles White art auction at the Swann Gallery in New York –“J’ccuse No. 10 (Negro Woman)” went for $170,000; and his reflections on the likely settlement of the La Vina case and the Arroyo & Foothills Conservancy planned purchase of 13 acres of Millard Canyon.
The Pasadena Education Network will hold a workshop on Saturday, Feb. 25, “Parents as Leaders,” designed to help parent leaders and educators coordinate and focus their efforts to improve student outcomes. Breakfast and lunch are included, as is childcare for ages 5-13. For more information or to RSVP, email info@penfamilies.org.
Apt. 2B, a website for LA apartment dwellers, has a stylish new platform bed called “The Altadena.” We’re actually impressed by the look, altho it’s a little IKEA-looking. Our favorite sales line: “Built in lighting to create both a stunning display element, as well as a relaxing mood (so you can get busy). ” OK, then.
