The LUC agenda says it will be a monopine, not a monopalm.

Here is a picture of a monopine, which would fit better than a monopalm along the deodar-lined Fair Oaks.

The original proposal was a monopalm which is shown in the exhibit, the applicant is now asking for consideration of a monopine.

Keep the towers away. One by one won’t help. we need to press our representatives to do what Portland OR and the Los Angeles board of supervisors did and tell the FCC that it is time to revise the health clause in the 1996 telecommunications act that forbids questioning the placement of a tower for health reasons. I thought there was a little of the constitution left until i found out how this bill illegally quarterbacks the telecoms by the FCC. thousands of studies worldwide confirm the health dangers of towers, phones, wifi and toys but the lemmings are in a wireless trance staring into their phones as they walk down the street mesmerized by their little tracking devices.

Let’s go with an ATT tower..this seems to be a great location, whether PINE or PALM
At least they’re doing a tree tower, and ATT reception in the entire Altadena region is horrible. Why not put this in so residents finally have a real choice of service, as verizon is the only carrier that handles signals well.

Speaking as the epidemiologist (medical researcher) for the blog, I’m fine with a tower going up. Reception here is poor, and as we rely on cell phones more and more for things like emergency calls (example of the hikers who got into trouble recently on the Dawn Mine trail & had trouble making cell calls), there are good public health reasons for having better service. DM, I’m not going to debate this here (the good debates occur in the journal letters section following an article’s publication), but there are not thousands of studies confirming health dangers of electronics – plenty of good researchers are looking at a variety of exposures, everything from those ugly transformer boxes at the curb to Heavy power lines in your neighborhood to a phone held up to your head, and honestly the story is mixed at best. Even if there is a health risk, it’s minimal and bears no comparison to real public health hazards such as handguns or lack of vaccination.

This is in response to Brian League, I have worked with radio equipment for years both professionally and as a hobby and I can tell you that there has never been a conclusive study to date that proves that there is any health risk. Power lines produce more radiated energy than a cell tower could ever do. The microwave in your home puts out 1000 times more energy than a cell tower can do. The FCC has created this law to promote communication for everyone without prejudice. Altadena is sorely in need of improved communications. I can tell you on three occasions I have witnessed serious auto accidents that required 911 assistance and was unable to make that call. There were no pay phones in the area and rushed to my house to make the call 10 minutes later. Brian if you have an actual credited study that proves they are unhealthy I would love to see it posted here.
