Historical Society celebrates Scripps Home, seeks donations to finish archiving
by Jane Brackman, President
Altadena Historical Society
The Altadena Historical Society hosted a nice tea last Sunday, Nov. 11, to commemorate the100th anniversary of the founding of the Scripps Home. Unfortunately the home didn’t live long enough to join the celebration.
Our guests included donors who’ve made contributions to the Scripps archive fund.
Last year Episcopal Homes Communities/MonteCedro, which purchased and tore down the buildings, returned the collection of memorabilia to Historical Society. We’re using the $3500 we’ve received thus far to pay for the professional archiving of the collection. We need another $500 to reach our goal. Anyone wanting more information can call us at 626-797- 8016 or emai laltadenahistorical.society@yahoo.com
