Hail — yes!

 

100_4522 About 11:30 Sunday night, with a clap of thunder, the rain turned to hail.  Here’s a picture of the sidewalk of Altadenablog World Headquarters right now — enough pea-size hail that it looks like snowfall. UPDATE 11:50: Isaac Garcia has added backyard hail pictures. UPDATE 8:30 1/26: Lots of local blogs mentioning the weather, including Uncle Mel, and Willie the Korn, who also has pictures. Carol Momsen and Nancy Rothwell sent us some pictures, too,  and more updates, after the jump.

We watched a car attempt to make its way up our street–Maiden Lane–and it kept slipping backwards on the hail! Such excitement for us So Cal natives.

or was it sleet? hail is formed differently, usually bigger and usually not in winter(see wikipedia)
