McGovern and author/Watergate whistleblower John Dean will be “Talking Politics” at the Altadena Senior Center, 560 E. Mariposa, at 7 PM. This special appearance by two influential and important American political figures will be followed by a book signing, and books will be available for purchase at the event.
George S. McGovern represented South Dakota in the United States Senate from 1963 to 1981 and was the Democratic nominee for president in 1972. He was a decorated bomber pilot in World War II, after which he earned his Ph.D. in American history and government at Northwestern University. A recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom presented to him by President Clinton, he lives in Mitchell, South Dakota.
John Dean served as White House Counsel to President Richard Nixon from 1970-1973, and became the star witness of the Watergate prosecution. Dean frequently appears on MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olberman and is the author of numerous books including, Worse Than Watergate, Conservatives Without Conscience, Broken Government: How Republican Rule Destroyed the Legislative, Judicial and Executive Branches and, most recently, a reissue of Blind Ambition. John Dean lives in Beverly Hills, CA.
