George McGovern dead; spoke in Altadena in 2009

Former South Dakota Senator and 1972 Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern died Sunday at Sioux Falls. He was 90.
McGovern and former Nixon White House counsel John Dean spoke in Altadena almost two years ago as part of a Friends of the Library program. McGovern, who had a Ph.D. in history, had just published a short biography of Abraham Lincoln.
