Down Beat Express gives a nostalgic romp in the park
by Timothy Rutt
The Down Beat Express returned to Farnsworth Park Saturday night as part of the Sheriff Support Group’s summer concert series. The Express played some oldies from the Great American Songbook, movie themes, and some World War II-era favorites under clear skies at the park.

1. Sheriff Deputy Greg Gabriel horses around before announcing the band.
2. The Down Beat Express brass section
3. The Express attracts a different kind of dancer than you usually see in the park.
4. Special guest, high-note trumpeter Paul Cacia, blasts the night with music.
5. Jennifer Gates does a number in the first set, when it’s still daylight.
6. The mighty sax section of the Down Beat Express.
7. Jennifer Gates sings with cool and style.
