Despite last month’s conflict over leadership — at the council meeting, between each other, and online — the Altadena Town Council approved the slate of officers presented in July, with Bernardean Broadous handing over the chair’s gavel to Diane Marcussen Tuesday night.
The council arranged to approve the slate by assent, with no actual vote, public or secret, being taken.
But not without a few parting words from Broadous, urging that “cooler heads prevail at all times,” and to take differences to the person rather than “rather than talk to somebody and stab them in the back,” which may have been a veiled reference to this story about dissatisfaction with Broadous’ leadership expressed by councilmembers past and present.
The council also approved Ron Adams to fill the vacant seat in Census Tract 4603.02.
Besides Marcussen, the new executive committee is: Okorie Ezieme, vice-chair; recording secretary Brent Musson; corresponding secretary Richard Moon; and treasurer Amy Cienfuegos.

The Altadena Town Council has approved the slate of Executive Officers as presented by the Nominating Committee. Since Town Council members asked for and received the time they needed for their research, I respect their decision.
My hope is that Town Council takes this opportunity to build on the communication and community outreach that the Election Committee established this last election cycle. Community involvement is now on the upswing, but there’s so much more that can be done to engage our citizens.
