Altadena station CHP officers Andre Primeaux and Christian Cracraft have developed two webpages using Googlemaps: one records 2009 traffic collisions (including injuries, marked with a '+') and one that records traffic complaints. Makes interesting viewing!

that’s a great link and great job putting it together…however I don’t remember seeing any reporting about a FATAL accident, a pedestrian vs vehicle at Lake and Mendocino on March 18…that’s a big incident in the community

It’s interesting to see how a larger number of accidents seem to occur on north/sound streets. I wonder how much of that is related to people not checking their speeds when going downhill?

Chris, the fatal is listed. See entry # 2009-03-0214. Great map, which would be even better if one could to sort the data by day of week and time of day. Having this ability would resolve barionex’s, and many others questions.

The way people drive through crosswalks here is unbeleiveable. When on a skateboard I expect that people will not/do not stop. But when wlaking with a baby in a stroller you’d expect people to be a little more considerate. (Fair Oaks from Altadena to Woodbury) I would think that this would be a Sherriffs duty as CHP is responisble for the highway? I would also love to see the police maybe in unmarked cars do some observations around this area.

Obviously the only way I knew was through the CHP report…however, regarding Does it matter response:
I have been so happy to see the ‘retired’ sheriff who is on duty on sat and sun
being diligent for watching that crosswalk at the post office…my GOD the things
our fellow ‘citizens’ do flying through that MARKED crosswalk( WITH LIGHTS AND AN ISLAND) is APPALLING
there is NO reason NOT to STOP there…get a clue fellow citizens
CROSSWALKS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY and I have applauded the sheriff for nailing these life endangering bad drivers who think THEY own the road…however, I don’t know where he will hide with the old Republic Savings building being (FINALLY)
destroyed….
and he also watches the Maiden Lane Mendocino STOP like a hawk on WEEKENDS….
make sure you STOP…and not a CALIFORNIA stop…the wheels must stop TURNING to quote a famous band….
