A member of the President Streets neighborhood news group noted that the electrical panel on his house had been opened.  He said it does not open by itself, and as it belongs to the homeowner (and not Edison) — and due to the uptick in burglaries and attempted burglaries in the area — he was a little suspicious.

Are the burglars now trying to shut off a home’s power in order to deactivate burglar alarms?  We know that a loss of power does trigger some alarms, but we’re not familiar enough with them to know that it’s universal  Still, we know our electrical panel has fittings for a lock or seal, and it might not be a bad idea to get one …
