A poem, not so much off the wall, as about a wall
from gloriana casey
Graffiti– once lived on this wall
of Patticakes—in fact.
This MURAL — with its work of art
took neighborhood right back!
But County person hears complaint
and sees only a sign.
A MURAL is a work of art
while signs aren’t all benign.
No words appear upon this wall,
it’s colored joyfully.
“Aha!” said one, ” but icons show
what in this shop will be!”
Iconic MURAL?— American!
This style is called POP ART.
The Andy Warhol Soup Cans, true
brings millions to art mart!
So please, County, do not mistake
this MURAL for a sign!
“For life is short, but art is long,”
and icons are no crime.
Perhaps “complainers” worship then
the Cubist man—- Duchamp?
Want ” Nude Descending a Mousse Cake?”
Style change? No no, you can’t!
Plus, don’t forget this MURAL sits
upon four cornered street.
For business living on this quad—
then let the MURAL speak!
A benefit for all around
as marker, it is blessed.
For lost drivers–a helpful hint,
an artful GPS!
And where on Allen, do you live?
Just find the coffee cup.
Turn left or right and find that home,
a visitor’s new luck!
Iconic? Yes, like city near,
where FORK stands in the road!
For art, it builds a city up,
and fortunes rise, I’m told.
So County, County–please refrain!
This MURAL loved by city!
For coffee cup–iconic there,
is sweeter than graffiti!***
