Whatever that chopper is flying around town at about 9 AM today, the sheriffs say it doesn't belong to them.  

It might be Pasadena PD's chopper, but we wouldn't know about that by listening to the scanner.

Any ideas out there?

Just received word from Meredith Miller of Websters Community Pharmacy that Fancy Food Truck Friday, scheduled to return tomorrow, has been cancelled due to the threat of rain.

She also writes “the good news is that the same truck lineup will be coming up on June 8 – so all is not lost!”

Altadena activist and educator Barbara Bigby was honored as “Woman of the Year” for the 44th Assembly District by Assemblyman Anthony Portantino on Monday.

“It gives me great pleasure to name Barbara Bigby as Woman of the Year for the 44th Assembly District,” said Assemblymember Portantino. “Mrs. Bigby’s lifelong mentorship of children demonstrates her passion for the safety and welfare of young people and her leadership of the Altadena NAACP shows a long-standing commitment to improving the community.

• Sheriff’s Air 5 rescue chopper was involved Monday in the rescue of a 56-year-old woman who who drove off the road in the Angeles National Forest on Sunday.  Tracy Granger spent the night injured in her car after plunging 300 feet down a steep embankment at the Angeles Forest Highway near mile marker 10.47.  She suffered head injuries and hypothermia.  KTLA has the story and video.

The Altadena Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (ACONA) meets tonight at the Altadena Main Library, 600 E. Mariposa St. , starting at 7 PM.

The final agenda is:

• Cole Landowski, Head, Environmental Hygiene Program for LA County will be there to discuss “noise and nuisance” issues:what you can do about them;
• Open discussion of the Ralphs store in Altadena;

From the LA County Sheriff’s Department, sent at 5 PM:

A Special Weapons and Tactics Team from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Special Enforcement Bureau, is responding to the 3200 block of North Lincoln Avenue, Altadena, regarding a barricaded suspect. 

The suspect shot and injured a female adult at the location and then barricaded himself in the residence armed with a long rifle.

Well they’re at it again!  We live in the 500 Block of E. Mendocino.  This morning, around 11ish,  a woman dressed in jeans and rain boots, frantically rang our doorbell and pounded on the door yelling, “delivery, delivery!”  She then moved from the front door down the walkway to the garage and repeated the above yelling and pounding.  My mom  was home, but did not respond.  Our cats scattered as this woman,

• Melissa Dirks was one of 1,371 students who were named to Biola University's Fall 2011 Dean's List for academic excellence. 

We lost our dog today 4/2 in the area of Alameda and Lake, We last saw him running northbound on Lake from Alameda. Dog is an 8 month old Australian shepherd white furry coat with black and brown spots on back and around eyes. He is very friendly and playful.
