Michele Zack has settled into her place as a local independent historian, but then there’s an intersection she likes to explore: history and fiction.

“I’m kind of obsessed with this whole question of fiction and history and how all history is a bit of historical fiction and all fiction is historical,” Zack says.

Altadenan Sue Redman, a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), will do a reading from her book with Pollyanna Redman, She Ain’t Your Toy – She’s My Sister at the West Hollywood Library on Saturday, May 18.  The reading is in honor of National Foster Care Month.  Click graphic for details.

Activation of the plan will enable information to flow through Altadena and nearby areas, even when we have a serious emergency and normal types of communications are down.

The Arroyo Seco Foundation and Pasadena Water & Power Department are asking for public input at a meeting on April 29, looking at improvements to the Arroy Seco.

The Arroyo Seco Canyon Project is a $3.3 million project for habitat restoration, water resources enhancement, water quality improvement, and recreation. Now in the final design phase, they are looking for public input on such key features as parking lot layout and design,

The Los Angeles County Fire Department will leada mult-agency exercise on Friday morning at Angeles Crest Highway, practicing “over-the-cliff” rescue techniques.

The technical rescue exercise will be held off the Angeles Crest Highway in the Angeles National Forest. According to a press release from County firefighters, “the forest’s extremely steep terrain has been the location of a large number of technical rescue operations throughout the history of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.”
