Edison has been reporting power outages in the area since 5:35 AM this morning. (One of our readers reported an outage from about 6:30-7:30 AM southwest of the country club area). As of about 9:30, the outage website is still reporting problems, but we don't know where or when they will be fixed.

The monthly meeting of the Altadena Town Council will be at the Community Center, 730 E. Altadena Dr., on Tues., Nov. 16, at 7 PM.
Hot on the agenda are changes to the council’s own bylaws. While most of the revisions are cosmetic — word choices and the like — there are some significant changes:
The proposed revisions include provisions that “the format for investigations, hearing, and trial as defined by Robert’s Rules of Order is to be used by the ATC for disciplinary proceedings,”

Altadena Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (ACONA) held its third bi-monthly meeting Monday night, bringing together a new community of neighborhood associations who were quite vocal about making make Altadena “the greatest neighborhood in L.A. County.”

Collage/performance artist Marnie Weber will have gallery show at a place that’s not exactly your usual spot: the Mountain View Mausoleum Gallery. (Yes, there is a gallery in the mausoleum!)
The exhibit premieres with a sold-out show tonight, “Eternity Forever,” which includes the gallery show, a film, and a performance. Karen at West of Rome, the producers of the event, say that “tonight’s show features special performative aspects that will not happen again … [including] a performative theater in the graveyard itself featuring some of the characters from her films.”

The Altadena Sheriff’s Station and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Athletic Association has announced its annual “Tour of Altadena” bike ride on Sat., Dec. 4, from 9-11 AM at Loma Alta Park.
This year, there will be a 10 mile “Family Fun” ride, or a 12.5 mile hill climb challenge. Entry is $10, and all proceeds benefit the LA County Sheriffs Annual Giving Campaign.

The Altadena Sheriff’s station tells us that, at 10 PM, crime scene detectives are still on the scene at Lincoln near Woodbury, where a shooting was reported about 4:40 PM this afternoon.
According to the watch commander, two persons were injured and transported to the hospital,

A3M bone marrow drives during her recovery.

Altadena sheriffs have released more information on Friday afternoon’s double shooting during an apparent botched robbery attempt.
According to Det. Lt. Joseph Dempsey of Altadena Sheriff Station, deputies responded to the 2000 block of Lincoln Ave. following a “shots fired” report at 4:36 PM Friday afternoon. Deputies discovered one suspect at the scene with a gunshot wound to the neck.
The suspect is a 34-year-old Pomona resident,

Altadena diver Felicitas Lenz, a sophomore at Northwestern U. in Illinois, continues to impress at a recent matchup with Purdue, where she won the 3-meter springboard with a 301.35, cracking the 300-point barrier in a dual meet for the second straight time this year and the fourth time in her career.

Thank you to our West Side readers for alerting us to helicopter/sheriff activity last night around 10 PM. Sheriffs said it was a call on a burglary that amounted to nothing, but we're not sure we buy that from Crescenta Valley Station. We'll keep looking into it.

Per the Altadena Sheriff station, the rescue squad is getting a workout tonight.
Altadena Search and Rescue successfully brought down two hikers earlier tonight from the Millard Canyon/Chaney Trail area, who were caught without flashlights as it got dark.
And, about 10 PM, the watch commander tells us that they're preparing for a rescue of a hiker in Eaton Canyon who has not returned.

Monday night, the Altadena Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (ACONA) will hold its third bi-monthly meeting on the needs of neighborhood associations in Altadena, from 7-8:30 PM at the Altadena Library, 600 E. Mariposa.
The meeting will feature presentations by two Block Captains, Sandy DeJardin of the La Vina Neighborhood Association, and Nina Ehlig of the SENCH Neighborhood Association, who will talk about what has made their Neighborhood Associations/ Neighborhood Watches successful.

Altadena master storyteller Leslie Perry was honored Sunday afternoon at The Coffee Gallery with storytelling, music, and a party for his new book,
The Story Man. It was elbow-to-elbow at the Coffee Gallery Backstage, where Perry was greeted by well-wishers and admirers. Here, Perry is greeted by Brenda Barlow, who says that he inspired her family to start the tradition of telling stories to each other at family gatherings.

Beulah Faulkner, a resident of the Scripps Kensington Home in Alhambra, describes her quilt-like painting to Janelle Morton of the Sophie Miller Foundation. The Foundation, is a supporting organization of The Episcopal Home Communities, dedicated to subsidizing charitable care for older adults who incur financial need. The foundation sponsored “Art from the Heart,” an exhibit of paintings from Episcopal Homes’ residents and students from area schools and programs such as Hillsides and Five Acres. Sunday afternoon was the official opening of the exhibit,

There will be a ceremony in Lancaster on Mon., Nov. 15, to dedicate the Capt. Ted Hall and Engineer Arnie Quinones Memorial Highway.
Hall and Quinones were killed when their vehicle rolled off the road as they were fighting the Station Fire in 2009. The two firefighters were the only fatalities in the fire.
