Between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM – A vehicle burglary occurred in the parking structure of the 24 Hr. Fitness (2180 N. Lincoln Av.). Suspect(s) shattered the driver’s side window, reached into the vehicle and removed several items. Loss: blue vinyl handbag, brown leather wallet containing personal documents, green Samsung cell phone and $40.00 in cash.

Between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM – Theft by False Pretense: The victim received a phone call from a male stating that he was the victim’s grandson and that he was incarcerated in Mexico City.

We spotted a large mountain lion in the driveway at 2770 Porter Ave, between Altadena Drive and Alta Loma, at around 9:00 P.M. on Wed., Nov.
24th. My husband and myself were driving north on Porter with our 11 year old daughter and her friend when we saw what we at first mistook for a large dog just standing in front of one of the cars parked in the driveway.

The Christmas Tree Lane Association has announced the schedule for the 90th annual Christmas Tree Lane Tree Lighting Ceremony and Parade on Sat., Dec. 11.
The day begins with the Christmas Tree Lane Winter Festival and Boutique, starting at 2 PM in the parking lot of the Altadena Library, 600 E. Mariposa. The festival includes Christmas Tree Lane memoriabilia, along with vendors selling jewelry, crafts, and art. Santa Claus “Holly Wolly Jolly” will be there taking pictures.

The LA County Dept. of Parks and Recreation is starting up “Pounder Wrestling,” for kids ages four and up to learn wrestling skills, improve strength and flexibility, and participate in local and statewide wrestling tournaments.

Get up early tomorrow (Dec. 1) and join the president of the Tournament of Roses and the Rose Queen and Court as they walk the Rose Bowl at 7:30 AM. Don’t forget that Saturday is the annual Tour of Altadena bike ride, sponsored by the Altadena Sheriff’s Station and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Athletic Association.

Registration closes this coming Monday for the Farnsworth Park Holiday Program and Toy Giveaway, sponsored by the Los Angeles Dept. of Parks and Recreation.

Students who are attending the soon-to-close Loma Alta and Burbank schools will get to jump ahead of other Pasadena Unified students in the priority enrollment lottery.
PUSD released new boundary maps this week to show where students will go once the two Altadena schools have closed in the fall — Loma Alta students’ new “residential” schools are either Franklin or Altadena Elementary Schools, and Burbank students “residential” schools are Webster or Longfellow.

The 2010 “Tour of Altadena” bike rider got off to a smooth start this morning at Loma Alta Park. Riders from law enforcement agencies and the general public took to their bicycles in this fun ride, to benefit the LA County Sheriff’s Annual Giving Campaign.
