Rescue crews are working on recovering a hiker at around Inspiration Point. Fire crews have been deployed both at Chaney Trail and at the Cobb Estate for most of the afternoon.
Per the scanner (and scanner calls are always to be taken with a grain of salt), a request has been made to contact the coroner. We are continuing to monitor the situation.
UPDATE: Lt. Brian Fitch of Crescenta Valley Station said that search and rescue teams are active up in the hills, acting on a report from a hiker who came across a person dead on the trail. However, as of 3:47 PM, neither the body nor the hiker who found and reported the body has been located.
UPDATE 4:20 PM: They’ve inserted some deputies into the trail, and per the scanner, homicide has been notified. Doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve determined that there’s been an actual homicide at this time, they’re just mounting an investigation.
UPDATE: 5:23: per scanner, body has been located, and they are presently working to remove it. Current plan seems to be to helicopter it out and drop it off to the coroner at Farnsworth Park.

Don’t know if it is related but the helicopter just landed at the park
Sad to say but me and my cousin happen to have passed by before they recovered the body, as we hike back down we saw that the body was there. Who was that person with thou because as we went up I saw to packs and as we hiked back down there was only one, so either the guy who reported it abandoned his friend or he was the first guy we saw get airlifted out but then that leaves alot of questions to ask.
