Altadena groups join Black Friday anti-Walmart protests
by Timothy Rutt
Members of Neighbors Building a Better Altadena took part in Black Friday demonstrations against Walmart labor practices.
A contingent of NBBA members put signs up near the site of the Walmart Neighborhood Market now under construction at Lincoln Avenue and Figueroa Street in Altadena, before carpooling to Paramount to join a demonstration there. NBBA’s Monica Hubbard reported “lots of marching, chanting, short speeches from Walmart workers and others; hard to hear due to the PA system.”
LA Times has a story about the Paramount rally here.
Adolfo Flores of the LA Times Newspaper Group covers a protest at the Duarte store here where another local anti-Walmart group, SaveAltadena, participated.
