Walking Phoenixes walk the line to the end of summer

Opening act The Red Mutts played classic 70’s era rock.
Sporting a black leather duster, Walking Phoenix’s lead singer Drew Young took command of the stage for an evening of Johnny Cash. Amazingly, the Phoenixes and the Mutts shared a strong resemblance, even to using the same instruments ….
Young goes dark and deep into the Johnny Cash songbook, but they played some of Cash’s novelty songs, too (“My name is Sue …. how do you do?”)
Singer Laura Lynn joined the band for an encore, the Johnny Cash/ June Carter classic, “Jackson.”
The Sheriff’s Support Group also held the drawing for the big stuffed Rose Parade horse, which went to Pamela Mann, who was in the audience that day. And that’s another summer of concerts — come back next year!
