Rose West, Altadena Curves franchise owner says, “Our members have generous hearts. So, it’s no surprise to me that they rallied behind the food drive.” She explains, “We set a goal of collecting 2,000 pounds of food and we almost met that goal! I am really proud of our ladies.”
But the food donations weren’t just from the Altadena Curves members. Non-members also brought in bags of groceries in exchange for an opportunity to join Curves with a waived service fee. It’s notable that in these tough economic times, thousands of women took advantage of this opportunity to help themselves become healthier while contributing to the needs of their community’s less fortunate residents. Last month’s food drive accounted for 11 new memberships at the Altadena Curves. Also, a new partnership with Ralph’s Altadena brought in over 180 pounds of food in just four hours at a table outside the local supermarket.
“Curves and our members are delighted to help our community,” said West. “The Food Drive is an excellent program that fits perfectly with the Curves philosophy: promoting the health of the whole woman. The opportunity for our members to give back to the Altadena community promotes the spirit of giving.”
