Altadena Heritage’s “Heritage of Abundance” series continues with two presentations about the urban forest in the next month.
The first presentation is “Logging the Urban Forest” on March 28. With all the trees that have been downed in recent wind and rainstorms, there’s certainly been an abudance of felled wood. Altadena Heritage presents four speakers who talk about using the wood in a variety of useful ways: urban lumberjack Rich Benson, instrument builder Robert Hilton, pen maker Bill Peplow, and furniture maker William Stranger. The presentation runs from 7:30-9 PM.
A second presentation, “Managing the Urban Forest,” will be April 19, featuring Frank McDonough of the LA County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, who will speak on the health and longevity of living trees. This presentation starts at 7 PM.
