Posting to the local newsgroups: an opportunistic hot burglary (i.e. with people in the house) at the corner of Highview and Harriet at 4 PM on May 8. The perp came through an unlocked front door and grabbed what they could — a jar of change, an empty purse, and a laptop on the dining room table.
Altadenablog notes that there have been several incidents of opportunistic thefts reported lately — delivered packages swiped from front porches, perps taking from unlocked cars while you’re carrying in the groceries, etc. Be aware of your surroundings and take care of basic security!

Thinking no one was home, someone broke into my house near Fair Oaks and Altadena Drive on Tuesday morning . After ringing the door bell with no answer, he jimmied and came through a bedroom window. Luckily when he discovered someone was home, he ran out the front door. With the warm summer weather approaching we all need to remember to keep our windows secure, even on hot days.
