Join the Arroyos & Foothills Conservancy and docent Michele Zack on a hike in Rubio Canyon along the route of the Mount Lowe Railway, which brought Angelenos and tourists to popular resorts on Mount Lowe and Echo Mountain in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Learn about the railway's history and Rubio Canyon with Zack, author of Altadena: Between Wilderness and City. Meet at the intersection of Rubio Vista Drive and Pleasantridge Drive in Altadena on Sat., Oct. 29 at 9 AM.

The hike is about a mile each way. The trail is demanding at points, with several high narrow steps near a sheer drop and a scramble over rocks in the creek near the end, should you choose to go that far.  The hike is free.
