Muir football coach placed on leave

The head football coach of John Muir High School has been put on administrative leave following an altercation with a student earlier in the week.

Reached Saturday, Ken Howard declined to comment, referring questions to his attorney. The attorney, Joe Hopkins, could not immediately be reached.

However, Howard told the Pasadena Star-News that he was involved in a brief struggle Wednesday with a student allegedly in possession of a weapon. The student, who was not identified, was allegedly injured.

“The kid was resisting,” Howard told the newspaper. “I told him to sit in his seat, and it got physical. I wrapped the kid up and escorted him from the classroom.”
