Reached Saturday, Ken Howard declined to comment, referring questions to his attorney. The attorney, Joe Hopkins, could not immediately be reached.

However, Howard told the Pasadena Star-News that he was involved in a brief struggle Wednesday with a student allegedly in possession of a weapon. The student, who was not identified, was allegedly injured.

“The kid was resisting,” Howard told the newspaper. “I told him to sit in his seat, and it got physical. I wrapped the kid up and escorted him from the classroom.”
