Reader Karen TenEyck points out this story on the Pasadena Community Network’s blog about the closing of Persson’s Nursery. The popular family-owned nursery at 3115 Sierra Madre Drive, at the confluence of Altadena, Pasadena, and Sierra Madre, closed down suddenly, leaving the plants to dry out and die. Family health and other issues were involved, and it’s a darn shame, as we look at our kitchen herb garden from here, largely bought from Perssons.
NewTown, the Altadena-based arts group, is looking for new members as its founder, RIchard Amromin, retires. They want to raise $3,000 in a week, and they do some pretty interesting stuff around the LA area. Their website is here.
