A bit o’ Ireland in song and dance opens summer concert series
The Irish Volunteers opened up the Sheriff Support Group of Altadena’s 15th annual Summer Concert Series, with an appreciative and larger-than-usual crowd for opening day at Farnsworth Park. The Irish Pride Dancers, like the young lady pictured, also performed in a show with something for the whole family. More pictures after the jump.
Producer Robert Klomburg, background, and Altadena Sheriff Capt. Steven McLean opened up the concert series.
The Irish Volunteers: from left, John McKenna, Timothy Moynahan, Sean Manning, and Mike Manning.
Moynahan plays the traditional Irish tin whistle.
Reinforcing the Celtic thunder was Tim Drake on Uilleann pipes and Liam Lewis on mandolin.
The Irish Pride Dancers added a fiery Irish dancing to the evening …
… but it was hard NOT to get up and move!
Sis Manning, mother of Mike and Sean Manning, gave a stirring rendition of “Danny Boy.”
If you weren’t at the concert, you missed something. But you can make it up with the Downbeat Express big band next week!
