CNN features Patricia Guerrero of Altadena, who went from making $70,000 a year in the most vibrant economy in the world to going to a food bank to feed her family.  They seem to attach it to the housing crisis, and she was a loan processor, but middle class layoffs were happening long before the housing crunch.
