UPDATE: Nixle reports to us:

At 6:30PM Friday, hikers reported to Altadena Sheriff’s Station that they believe they heard shouting coming from at least two stranded hikers. Altadena Sheriff’s Station deputies, Altadena Search and Rescue team, and sheriff’s Air-5 rescue helicopter are en route to the area near the water tanks in Las Flores Canyon, near Echo Mountain, in the Angeles National Forest to search for the stranded hikers, and rescue them if needed.

NIxle also says this is unrelated to the earlier, 5:15 rescue near the falls at Eaton Canyon.

UPDATE: Nixle tells us:

Deputies from Altadena Sheriff’s Station and the Altadena Search and Rescue team hiked to Las Flores Canyon, near Echo Mountain, Angeles National Forest, regarding a stranded hiker at about 630PM on Friday.

“This was the second rescue response by Altadena Sheriff’s Station deputies in less than two hours,” said Captain Mike Parker, Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

Sheriff’s rescuers hiked in and found a lone adult male hiker from Rosemead, who had slipped down a 60 foot slope into a ravine.  It was now dark and the hiker had injured his wrist. Rescuers used a rope to assist the hiker out of the ravine.  Once out of the ravine, he declined medical treatment, and was able to hike out.

UPDATE 7 AM 1/22:  The Chaney Trail listserv tells us that emergency vehicles went up Chaney Trail as well last night. Robert Staehle found out from authorities that rescuers had reports that the stranded hiker was at Echo Mountain AND at Millard Canyon, so they sent to crews out to both locations to be safe.  A bit of a crazy night.
