Foodandtoy1

Bright Future Scholars help Deputy Lamark Williams load food and toys into a sheriff’s truck for transport to the Community Center.

Foodandtoy2

All of the volunteers gathered for a group photo before the first families arrived. Food and toys have been collected for the past few weeks at local schools, churches and other locations. Neighborhood organizations such as the President Streets and La Vina held their own food and toy collections and contributed the items to the Sheriff’s Department.

All of the food and toys were neatly organized in the Community Center and the event ran very smoothly. Applications were accepted at local elementary schools and at the Altadena Sheriff’s Station. All applications were screened by sheriff’s personnel. Families were notified and given a specific time to stop by and pick up their food and toys.
