Wednesday morning jolt
- Supv. Michael Antonovich has proposed naming the Angeles Crest Highway in honor of Los Angeles County Firefighters Captain Tedmund D. “Ted” Hall and Firefighter Specialist Arnaldo “Arnie” Quinones who died battling the Station Fire last year.“This action will be a fitting tribute Captain Hall and FF Spec. Quinones who sacrificed all in the effort to protect the lives of our County residents,” said Supervisor Antonovich.
- New Scientist looks at Altadena-based Global Aerospace Corp.’s Gossamer Orbit Lowering Device (GOLD): giant balloons that will increase drag on low-orbit dead satellites and induce them to re-enter faster.
- Land Use Committee acting chair Anthony Cheng tells us that the committee is recommending to the town council that it approve putting a 35-foot monopine cell phone tower on the property of the Methodist Church at 347 W. Altadena Dr. This will come up before the town council, but final decision rests with the county board of supervisors.
