Chris "Skywatcher" Considine sent this note about this morning's activity above our heads:
The Skywatcher was busy this morning with the incoming rumble of multiple military helicopters in formation at 9am… it lasted quite a while with 4 in formation helicopters heading southeast over Altadena followed shortly thereafter by 6 more helicopters heading to the same general direction.
Nothing to report of which group or why, although one would have to suspect Marines being moved to or back to Camp Pendleton in Oceanside.

Not the Marines, they wouldn’t be caught dead in a Black Hawk as there is no autorotate capability should the turbine fail. Bell Huey’s solamente. Far safer airplane in combat and training.
Army Airborne weekend warriors on their annual spring migration. They navigate following the freeways as a compass is useless with all that iron whirling overhead. Probably off to Blythe for fun in the sun and a tube float down the Colorado River. No complaints from the partipants as the Tigres is a little colder this time of year and the only shots to dodge come from hunters above the river banks. Personal experience down there 33 years ago found me cowering in the bow of a boat for a full hour as birdshot rained down all around me. I’m the biggest Second Amendment guy around but certification really should be part of the hunting license procedure.
