Not to put the knock on these sorts of things for veterans of the armed forces, but we veterans of the unarmed forces never get acknowledged – I was a Peace Corps volunteer in the early 70s in Korea. Didn’t get shot at or shoot (except with a vaccination syringe) – although I did get typhoid fever near the end of my tour.
