Pasadena Sub Rosa prints a series of email correspondence from a disabled resident to MTA re: getting a bus to come to Lake north of Altadena Drive. The answer: nope — no sidewalks, deep drains, steep slope. This is a real issue, essentially leaving disabled, elderly, and nondriving residents trapped in the area unless they can negotiate their way down Lake on foot.

I can understand the MTA’s point of view. The number of disabled buses I’ve seen around here suggests that getting them up as far as Altadena Drive is a challenge. And I’m sure the folks at Altadena Hardware, as well as any pedestrian near a street corner, can attest to how well the big MTA buses handle our streets.
It would be better if MTA had smaller and more agile buses available to serve foothill communities like ours.

Maybe you should plan ahead when you buy a house or rent out the property if you become disabled and live in such a place. A centrally located apartment would be much better for one in this condition.
