,
 From North America, the birth—–
for ancient one, this squash.
Old as 700 BCE—-
a timeless and great nosh!

Oh yes, Pumpkin he can be boiled,
or baked and even steamed!
Roasted, or mashed—–puree or soup
as PIE——oh yes——-the dream!

A lovely food he truly is,
and round the world he’s known.
PEPON is what he’s called in Greek,
so popular he’s grown.

Mais Oui! In French he’s called POTIRON;
 BOGA—– in Swahili.
In German—– KURBIS is the name——
there’s such variety!

Oh lovely pumpkin, skin of orange,
the glow of sunset skies!
Your gift to us is carotene;
Vitamin A for  eyes!

And Cinderella knew him well;
her coach was Pumpkin made!
But when that magic time ran out,
as Pumpkin, he then stayed,

 ” Bibbity Bobbity Boo”—try that,,
when for dessert they cry!
Thanksgiving is that magic time
for sharing PUMPKIN PIE!
