Well reasoned article. That being said:

There is no lawful hunting on or near County trails or residences. County and USFS services are dropping the ball by not putting up proper signage, thus leaving sheriffs confused about what to do.

Anyone hunting around the residential part of Chaney Trail is doing so illegally. We have no problem with hunters who go into the back country, although I do think that if they had any sense of fair play they would not hunt anywhere near fire damaged land (it is illegal to hunt in the Station Fire closure area) because the Station Fire incinerated so many animals and left the survivors starved and without cover.

Give the poor wildlife a break. It can be enjoyable to be in the wilderness and not kill things. Try it some time.

It has been my experience that hunters are treated with kid gloves by law enforcement and the USFS.

Was the lawful hunter up near Yosemite who started an unlawful campfire ever identified or charged?

Thank you for an informative article. I am glad to see references to the actual laws and guidelines hunters must follow. Now folks can be better informed about the facts. Peace.
