Foothill Municipal Water District will hold a workshop, “Backyard Horticulture Especially in the Wildlife Urban Interface” on Sat. June 28, 2012, at Loma Alta Park from 9 AM-noon.

Ellen Mackey, staff ecologist for the Metropolitan Water District, will present the workshop.  Mackey has converted her backyard into an urban farm/orchard that feeds her family and preserves water.  She integrates organic farming with native landscaping because “if it doesn’t produce food or support wildlife, it doesn’t get watered.”
