Pasadena Unified School District headquarters
from the Pasadena Unified School District:
Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) Interim Superintendent Dr. Brian McDonald issued the following statement regarding Celerity Exa Charter School surrendering their charter today:
“PUSD received a letter today from Vielka McFarlane, Chief Executive Officer of the Celerity Education Group, stating that Celerity Exa Charter School has ceased operations in the Pasadena Unified School District and is surrendering their charter. A closure of any school is traumatic, especially during the school year.”
“To provide support and information about educational options both within and outside of the district, I invite Celerity Exa families to a meeting with myself and other district officials Tuesday, September 9 at 6 p.m. at Cleveland Elementary School, 524 Palisade Street in Pasadena. At the meeting, we will also be discussing the possibility of Celerity Exa students being able to move as a cohort to Cleveland Elementary School, although they are free to enroll at any campus with space available.
“Our goal is to ensure that this transition is as smooth as possible so all students can continue their education seamlessly. We will do everything within our power to meet that goal.”
